Kwanten in Austin for Fantastic Fest

Ryan Kwanten, best known as the hunky but rather dim brother of Sookie Stackhouse in HBO's "True Blood," has been hanging out in Austin this weekend to promote his new movie, "Red Hill," which screened at Fantastic Fest on Saturday.

He arrived Friday night and went to the Highball to "sample your local ales," he said Saturday. And what was his favorite? "Fireman's 4, which was quite good," he said.

Kwanten plays Shane Cooper, a city policeman who moves to a rural area in Australia for peace and quiet, only to face a convict who has escaped prison and is intent on killing every man in town.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Filming Schedule Is Confirmed

the hype surrounding the final part of the Saga, Breaking Dawn is going to reach fever pitch!

And the filming schedule for the final two installments of the Sagahave been confirmed withGossipCop reporting that the timetable is accurate.

Filming will begin in November of this year and will go on until approximately March 15, 2011. Of course there may be slight changes but this is the planned schedule. EEK!

Disney’s Tiya Sircar Guest Stars in Season Two of “The Vampire Diaries”

Blood Brothers: Fans of The Vampire Diaries will be able to read all about Civil War-era history of vampire brothers Stefan and Damon when HarperCollins Children’s Books (children, really?) release Stefan’s Diaries #1: Origins in November. It’s the first in a planned trilogy of prequel novels. Apparently original author L.J. Smith, whose Vampire Diaries novels spawned the series, is not involved in the prequels, EW.com says.

Breaking Dawn' Part 2 Will Be Released On November 16, 2012

While there still seems to be some back and fourth over whether or not actor Lee Pace was approached to star in the next installment of "Twilight," we can report that today, some actual legitimate "Breaking Dawn" news has surfaced from the powers that be at Summit Entertainment.

When we checked in with Summit distribution chief Richie Fay early in July, he said that the release date for the second part of the movie had yet to be determined because they were waiting to see how well "Eclipse" would perform (a.k.a should they go with a summer date or return to winter time?). Well, the chilly temperature apparently won because it was just announced that part 2 will be out November 16, 2012. That's practically a year to the date in which part 1 is released (November 18, 2011), but we bet those 365 days will still be just as excruciating!

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Both Excited For Breaking Dawn Scenes

wilight fans couldn’t just resist it anymore. In as much as they’ed looked forward for Eclipse last month, every thing about the next franchise movie “Breaking Dawn” has been followed. Much excitement for those who were able to read the book version because they know that on this third movie the much sex scenes happen.

The first two movies came to be very conservative yet still rocked the fans crazy. There is no doubt that the upcoming movie wherein Kristen and Robbert is already husband and wife and a baby coming would be as exciting as you can imagine. “We totally have sex — finally,” these has been the words of Kristen as she happily told Access Hollywood. “They’re man and wife now. They have a kid and stuff too, so, I guess to get there that happens.” It clearly showed that both lead stars are very excited for the next movie.

For those who are looking forward for an action packed movie, this one’s not going to be something like that. That’s a little bit of a disappointment though. Nevertheless, Stewart assured that it would definitely be more physical! Fans need to wait a little longer since the next movie would be released more than a year from now. Fans who has been loyal to the movie won’t mind in the first place. Their excitement is just getting piled up each day.

‘Vampire Diaries’ to add new gay character

HollywoodNews.com: After the announcement that “90210″ will be following “Glee”’s lead in having one of the main male characters come out as gay, another popular CW show is following suit. Kevin Williamson, creator of “Vampire Diaries” and a supporter of GLSE (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network),reveals that a new gay character is coming to Mystic Falls when “Vampire Diaries” returns in the fall.

“My writing staff is just a mixture of gay or gay-friendly. We all just sit around and talk about ‘Glee’ and ‘Why don’t we have a gay character?’” he says. “Which character can be gay? Which character won’t? Where will it fit in? How can I get the gay character in? I don’t want to sound like I’m a militant about it, like THERE MUST BE A GAY CHARACTER, even though I am. It’s not just that, it’s also diversity. I always feel like I don’t have enough diversity on my show, and that is one of the things I’m very conscientious of, and not just gay characters. Any diversity. In anything, I want everyone represented. I want everybody on the show.”

'Supernatural' exec plans series finale

New Supernatural showrunner Sera Gamble has revealed that she knows how the series will end.

Gamble recently took over from creator Eric Kripke, who decided to leave once the show's original five-year story arc had been completed.

"We know how we want the series to end," she told Zap2It. "Right now, we're sort of doing something that not many shows have done in the past, which is to say we've closed out our first story and we're moving on to a second chapter."

She explained that while plans have been made for the series finale, the upcoming sixth season may not be the show's last.

"We're not necessarily approaching it as our last season, but we are prepared for the eventuality," she said. "We've got an endgame, absolutely."

Supernatural returns for a new season on September 24 on The CW.

Somerhalder 'has heavier Diaries role'

Ian Somerhalder has revealed that he has a "heavier" role in the new season of The Vampire Diaries.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Somerhalder explained that he is not used to playing a nicer side of his character Damon.

"It's not that I don't like it, it's just very counter-intuitive," he said. "These guys [Nina Dobrev, Matt Davis and Paul Wesley] - I have so much respect for them because they have a lot of weight on their shoulders at all times in most of these scenes and I just kind of breeze in and kind of screw around."

Somerhalder continued: "This whole new Damon thing, I have put a lot more heavy thought into in the sense that it's heavier. It throws me off a bit."

'Supernatural' Dean 'can't escape past'

Jensen Ackles has suggested that his Supernatural character Dean will be unable to live a normal life.

In the last season finale, Dean returned to Lisa and Ben in an attempt to settle down.

"He feels as though he's got an opportunity to live a normal life," Ackles told DS at Comic-Con. "It's something that he's always dreamt about."

Ackles explained that Dean will be "living that life" when the show picks up a year later but revealed that he will not be able to give up his old habits.

"He's still got the shotgun underneath the bed, still carries a pistol in the truck," Ackles said. "The Impala's underneath the tarp in the garage. So it's a bit of a big shift for him. But of course, inevitably, he starts to get sucked back in. And he can't fight his past. It starts catching up with him."

Lindsay Pulsipher - 'Crystal has some secrets'

Lindsay Pulsipher has claimed that her True Blood character Crystal has a lot of "secrets".

In an interview with the New York Post, Pulsipher explained that Crystal's hesitance around Jason (Ryan Kwanten) will be explored in more detail.

"I think it all comes back to how she was raised," she said. "She's got some things she's got to deal with back home before she can give herself to Jason fully. It's definitely going to be hard for her to see if she can keep seeing Jason."

Pulsipher added that there is a lot more to come from Crystal, saying: "She has some secrets and brings some surprises for sure. We are just getting to the tip of the iceberg with Crystal in season three. She brings a lot of colour."

The actress also revealed that as a fan of the show, she was thrilled with the third season.

"I totally geek out thinking about how exciting this season is," she said. "It's so fun and so exciting - I describe it like a Thanksgiving dinner. It's so full, it's so rich, there's so much going on that I think fans are going to be so pleased with this season."

Breaking Dawn’s Writer Talks Birthing Scene

The most concerning part of the movieBreaking Dawn is when Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, gives birth. The writers are in a scramble to figure out how to work the scene without it being traumatic to younger viewers before the filming which is set to start in November.

“I’ve written and continue to rewrite it, working on it with Bill Condon … He has a vision as well, but it’s kind of a shared vision I would say, but ultimately it comes down to, what does he actually want to see?” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg said. “I know what I want to see, which is, I want to see the terror of the experience. I want to have the experience of the fear and feel her pain. I want to feel everyone’s pain in this.”

The book lays out in detail the whole thing and Rosenberg doesn’t think that everything needs to be included. “I want it to be visceral, so that is what’s most important. Do I want to see teeth in placenta? No,” she said. “Someone else may. I don’t actually want to see that, but to each his own.”

It’s a mystery right now how this will be handled. However it’s sure to be a hit and draw in the crowds from near and far.

True Blood comic book series to be released

Hello True Blood fans! Comic-Con 2010 has been busy with all kinds of announcements. This particular announcement came on Friday the 23rd. Creator of True Blood Alan Ball, IDW Publishing, and HBO has teamed up together to bring fans a True Blood six-part comic book series. True Blood part one will be written by Alan Ball, David Tischman, Mariah Huehner, and David Messina with art by J.Scott Campbell, Joe Corroney, Andrew Currie, and Davis Messina. According to the HBO store, the story for True Blood #1 is outlined like this: "when Sookie and her friends are trapped by a vengeful spirit who feeds on shame. People die and dirty secrets are revealed as Sookie, Bill, Eric, Sam, Tara, Jason, and Lafayette and are all coerced to dig deep and tell painful memories from their past—those things we all have locked within us that we never tell another living soul!" Canning sinks her teeth into television and movie career

Life for Sara Canning right now is "a little bit nuts," but in the best possible way. The just-turned 23-year-old from Sherwood Park is managing a television and movie career she never really imagined for herself when she fell in love with acting in junior high school.

A cast member of the hit TV series Vampire Diaries, Canning also has a starring role in a feature film, Black Field, which will be screened for Edmonton audiences Wednesday only at City Centre theatre. The gothic frontier drama, shot in Manitoba, has received favourable reviews from critics, who compare the story to the Bronte sisters on the Prairies instead of the moors.

he Vampire Diaries determined to not give us any spoilers about anything ever

If you like hot men and a lot of shrieking, then you probably would have loved The Vampire Diaries panel today at Comic-Con. There were plenty of bawdy jokes about Paul Wesley's abs and Ian Somerhalder's, well, everything, but not so much on the side of new information.

What we did learn: Mrs. Lockwood will be the interim mayor after the passing of her husband, Tyler's uncle will be coming to town for the funeral and will help reveal more about what Tyler really is -- and, even better, we can expect to witness the full transformation -- Stefan and Katherine will come face-to-face in the season premiere, and we'll see some Alaric/Aunt Jenna action. We know that seems like a lot, but is it really anything unexpected? Not really.

So what did we get for waiting in line with the other plebes and enduring ear-drum shattering shrieks? A season two teaser trailer that the cast and crew just wrapped yesterday. We learned a few things, or at least were led to assume them. One of which is that Katherine is an even bigger bitch than previously thought. We see her tell Damon that she never really loved him and ram an iron poker through Stefan's midsection. At least she had the dignity to stab him in the front.

Other than that, it was all very "you'll have to tune in in September." Trust us, Kevin Williamson, we'd still do it even with a few more spoilers.

'True Blood': Alan Ball weaving political commentary into plot

f you are a fan of some of the vampire politicking that has pervaded through the first handful of episodes of "True Blood" this season, then you're in luck -- series exec Alan Ball says to expect more of it.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ball believes that the fantasy series has some messages buried underneath the surface that translate to the real world:

"As we get deeper and deeper into the hierarchy of the vampire political system, it in some way raises some interesting questions that I think might be appropriate to our own political system. Where is the power really concentrated?"

So far this season, we are seeing a political war brewing between Louisiana and Mississippi -- unfortunately for Eric and Bill, they are right smack in the middle of it.

'True Blood' Wesley: 'Tara is a fighter'

Rutina Wesley has claimed that her True Blood character Tara is a "fighter".

Tara is currently trapped in a relationship with the vampire Franklin Mott (James Frain) but Wesley suggested that she will try to escape in future episodes.

"She's a fighter," Wesley told Zap2It. "She's a fighter. She is going to try to survive this and fight her way out of it tooth and nail. Probably, hopefully, with the help of her best friend Sookie [Anna Paquin]."

She continued: "It's going to get action-packed. There's a lot of crazy stunts and stuff that's going to happen as the season goes on."

Wesley added that she feels lucky to have such interesting storylines, saying: "As an actor, for me, what they give me is so challenging and so meaty. It's what I went to school for. I have all this juicy stuff I get to work on... So it's been wonderful, wonderful, getting those scripts."

Dobrev 'feels lucky on Vampire Diaries'

Nina Dobrev has revealed that she loves playing two characters on The Vampire Diaries.

Dobrev stars in the show as both Elena, who lives in the present day, and Katherine, a vampire from the 1860s.

"It's a very rare opportunity that I feel very lucky for," she told TV Squad. "It's hard to find one character that's challenging, gritty and amazing, and I have two amazing, contrasting characters."

Dobrev explained that she loves having the chance to explore two different personalities.

"I play Elena, a sweet, nice and lovable girl who's also very courageous and will take care of all the people around her," she said. "She's very selfless. Katherine is the complete opposite - she's selfish, narcissistic and very crazy - and she does everything for her own pleasure and amusement. The world and these boys are her playground."

She added: "It's interesting and fun to explore two completely different things, and when it comes to Katherine, really be someone so far from myself. It's beautiful. I love it."

Ryan Kwanten: True Blood Sperm Donor?

Regular readers know that Ryan Kwanten has been one of our favorites for a very long time.

Yeah, he's one hot Aussie, but he's also great as Jason Stackhouse on True Blood and, in real life, he's as smart as his television alter-ego is dim-witted.

But even we were surprised by one overzealous fan's DNA-infused request…

"I got sent a little package that had a letter in it," Kwanten says in a new video posted on the True Blood website.

No biggie…until he found the glass vial that came with it. And nope, she wasn't looking for vampire blood.

"She said she was a fan of the show and of my work," Kwanten said, "and if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could I fill up the specimen with a little bit of love juice…because she was in the process of trying to create babies."

He laughed, "I sent her seven vials."

Sookie Stackhouse fans swarm Charlaine Harris in Miss

I don't know about you, but I'm loving this season of HBO'sTrue Blood. If you're missing it, I suggest you catch up before a spoiler bites you on the neck.

This week Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse books that inspired the series, dropped by the Hernando Public Library in Hernando, Miss., to greet fans. Pop reader David B. (aka knowjack) attended the event.

"We were thrilled to have her come back to our area to visit, and apparently so were a lot of other people -- we had about 600 people to show up!" he says. (David works at the nearby First Regional Library.)

He adds, "She was very entertaining and stayed until the very last person got an autographed book. It was very cool to hear her talk about her writing process, HBO and the relationships she has made with the True Blood cast. She told the audience that Kristin Bauer (Pam) just got married to a 'gorgeous' guy, Rutina Wesley (Tara) is one of the nicest people she's ever met, Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) gets even more beautiful up close and a lot of other juicy tidbits.

Ian Somerhalder: 'Lost exit was scary'

Former Lost star Ian Somerhalder has revealed that he was worried he would not be able to find acting work after leaving the show.

The actor - who now stars in The Vampire Diaries on The CW - told TV Squad that he was "scared to death" when his character Boone Carlyle was killed off.

"It's really funny. As an actor, you always think that whatever job you have is going to be your last," he said. "In some way, shape or form, you think you're going to screw it up and you're never going to work again. And it literally took five years to find another show."

Somerhalder explained that his search for a new role was an "exciting" but "scary prospect".

"Finding good work [is difficult]," he said. "It's exhilarating and challenging at the same time. [But] It was a welcome challenge."

The second season of The Vampire Diaries is due to air from September on The CW.

Vampire Diaries’ returns to Covington

Twilight Eclipse breaks UK box-office records

Robert Pattinson's new movie Eclipse has broken box-office records to become the highest-grossing movie of 2010 in the UK, according to reports. The new flick, which is the third instalment in the Twilight Saga, took a massive £13m during its opening weekend in the UK. It overtook Disney's Alice In Wonderland as the highest-grossing movie in the UK so far this year. The movie, which also stars Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, puts it ahead of New Moon, the second film in the vampire movie series, which made a reported £11m in its opening weekend, when it was released last year.

Mark Cotta Vaz's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: The Official Illustrated Movie Companion has finally hit USA Today's Bestseller book list, landing in eleventh place.

The companion, a book filled with interviews, articles, and photographs fromThe Twilight Saga: Eclipse, rests just below Stephenie Meyer's Eclipse on the list.
